Buying a laptop for my child - Linux? Microsoft or Apple?

I would like to know how to get a Linux laptop for my child who is in Year 5 and very much tech savvy.... she can easily adapt to anything and i was wondering what would suit her best? Thank you :)

I know this is quite late for a reply. But I would suggest to try going for a Raspberry pi to begin with, it is cheap and will if you are seeking the child to have some technical knowledge from it, help. (https://www.raspberrypi.org/)

Otherwise, try going for a laptop in this list, https://www.linux-laptop.net/, though most laptop should support most of these.

Starting with an apple product for a child, (i.e if you seek for the child to be technically experienced in software and hardware), seems atleast to me a bad choice. Things rarely break in an apple computer. Things breaking helps in the learning process.

I would suggest try to go for a dual boot setup where you have both Windows and Linux or BSD running on that device. Try letting the child do the dual boot installation herself. Get her/him to learn at least python with it.
